a blue sky smiling over a loch and distant mountains Sundown Cottages are situated in the village of Achmore in the North Lochs district of the Island Of Lewis, Outer Hebrides. The site of this newly built Scandinavian-designed property is wholly unique – the village of Achmore being the highest, south-facing vantage point on the island, with a panoramic vista of some 40 miles of wild, natural scenery. This spectacular landscape showcases the hills of the Pairc, Harris and Uig districts.

The small traditional crofting village of Achmore, (Acha mòr – translates from Gaelic as ‘big field’) is located within a conservation area of special scientific interest, ensuring that this beautiful unspoilt habitat will be preserved for generations to come. The village also boasts its own Druidan stone circle, the remnants of a Norse mill, a family of Golden Eagles and buzzard, plus a string of crystal-clear lochs full of fish and birdlife. There is free and open access to these all year round.

Its location in the centre of the island affords Sundown Cottages the luxury of being in close travelling proximity to all areas of interest.
